Recycle Bin: Safer Deletions, Easy Restores

Accidents happen – and until now, a mistaken deletion in your Recollect site meant losing that item or file for good. The new Recycle Bin feature changes that, giving you a safety net every time something is removed from the system.

No more permanent mistakes

Instead of disappearing forever, deleted items now sit in the Recycle Bin for 30 days. During this window, editors and administrators can restore them in just a couple of clicks. This protection isn’t limited to whole records either, it applies consistently down to individual assets, so if a single image or file gets removed by mistake, it’s just as easy to bring back.

Built for how teams actually work

The Recycle Bin is designed with real editorial workflows in mind:

  • Editors can delete and restore the items they manage day-to-day
  • Administrators have full oversight of the site-wide Recycle Bin, with the ability to perform bulk restores which is handy for reinstating 20–30 records at once after a large clean-up or an accidental batch deletion

Customers have told us this gives them far more confidence when tidying up their collections. Knowing that mistakes don’t have to be permanent and having clear visibility into what’s been removed, takes the anxiety out of routine collection management.

What’s next…

Later this year, a permanent Empty Recycle Bin option will roll out as an opt-in. This will let organisations that want stricter control over long-term deletion enable it, while everyone else continues to benefit from the automatic 30-day safeguard by default.
